His career path raises many questions.
After taking a look at it one can’t help but wonder what the heck goes on in government backrooms. How the heck did this guy become Director of the FBI?
After some years in a law firm, he became an Assistant US Attorney in 2002.
He was the guy who went after Martha Stewart.
Then he got promoted in one huge jump all the way to Deputy Attorney General.
A few years of that and he left it. Suddenly he became General Counsel AND Sr Vice President of Lockheed. WTH? How did his career prepare him for all of that? Except he now had ties to the DOJ, which could interest a huge government contractor spending large sums on lobbyists. But, walking in as Sr VP in a private industry job where he had zero industry experience?
Five years there, and he left to be General Counsel for Bridgewater Association, a huge hedge fund company. Two years there and he became a Senior Fellow of Law at the very liberal bastion, Columbia University.
This is a guy who had spent most of his life registered Republican, but switched to Independent after leaving the DOJ and suddenly bouncing around top jobs in corporations doing business with or under the eyes of DC.
So, how did he then qualify to be on the board of HSBC Holdings? An international giant of financial circles, but only for 6 months.
Obama snatched him up to be the FBI Director. And our illustrious Senate looked at this very curious career path and gave him easy confirmation as a former Republican now highly valued by Obama. Again…WTH?
What experience prepared him to be FBI Director? What made the liberals and conservatives in our Senate think that was a good idea?
Or did they all let him sail through because they knew of his ties to huge companies that hire a lot of lobbyists and make big campaign donations?
Comey is proof that the crony system between the parties in DC is a bigger swamp than we hear about.
We will never drain it if we keep the parties we have now. THEY are the water in the swamp the creatures emerge from.
You start your article with, “After taking a look at it one can’t help but wonder what the heck goes on in government backrooms. How the heck did this guy become Director of the FBI?” He was involved in the Whitewater Investigation, which was an investigation into the real estate investments of Bill and Hillary Clinton and their associates, Jim McDougal and Susan McDougal, in the Whitewater Development Corporation, a failed business venture in the 1970s and 1980s. Neither Bill Clinton nor Hillary were ever prosecuted, after three separate inquiries found insufficient evidence linking them with criminal conduct (Hmmm, no intent). He was involved with investigating Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich. Comey found no illegality on Clinton’s part. (Hmmm, no intent?)“In 2004, Comey, then serving as a deputy attorney general in the Justice Department, apparently limited the scope of the criminal investigation of Sandy Berger, which left out former Clinton administration officials who may have coordinated with Berger in his removal and destruction of classified records from the National Archives. The documents were relevant to accusations that the Clinton administration was negligent in the build-up to the 9/11 terrorist attack. Curiously, Berger, Lynch and Cheryl Mills all worked as partners in the Washington law firm Hogan & Hartson, which prepared tax returns for the Clintons and did patent work for a software firm that played a role in the private email server Hillary Clinton used when she was secretary of state.” – Jerome Corsi, WND (http://www.wnd.com/2016/07/comey-has-long-history-of-clinton-related-cases/) And then the Clinton email investigation where once again, he found no intent! He has ties to the Clinton Foundation (http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2017/05/report-comeys-brother-works-law-firm-handles-clinton-foundations-taxes/). He was the General Counsel and Senior Vice President for Lockheed Martin, a big contributor to the Clinton Foundation (Hmmm). And you ask how the heck did this guy become Director of the FBI? With power associations like the Clinton’s, he was the golden boy. By the way, they tried to get him on the short list for the Supreme Court in 2009, but failed because he was a registered Republican most of his life, and they received too much pushback from the left thinking he’d be just to the left of our good friend Justice Roberts (his background might need some investigating). Interestingly enough, he is now a registered Independent…
It was a rhetorical question because I knew his background and we must respond when such a plant can clear a Senate confirmation. What is the point of Senate vetting if a guy like him sails through?
