You know, sometimes I just have to shake my head in disbelief.
Today, all is wailing and woe over the non-indictment of Hillary Clinton over probably the biggest national security scandal since the Rosenbergs. While the wailing is coming from both sides, the worst for certain, is coming from the modern-day so-called “conservatives”.
All day. I have seen nothing but a steady chorus of whining from them, very reminiscent of a five year old child at the candy counter, that she is above the law, that something much be done and how the country is “doomed”. In other words, what you see every single time a Democrat skates on the law.
I have only this to ask these people. WHY do you keep expecting, year after year, election after election, that the GOP and “conservative” members of the House and Senate will actually DO anything about these scandals? We have decades worth of evidence that the GOP will just fake a little outrage to appease their base and then sweep all of this under the rug within 72 hours. Can you name me a time in the past 25-30 years where the GOP has ever succeeded, heck seriously TRIED, to take down a powerful Democrat politician? I sure cannot. The Clinton Impeachment might be the closest to that occurring, but it was doomed to failure from the start, since it was pretty much intended as a sideshow and not a serious matter, unlike the Nixon/Watergate scandal.
And the reason is that modern-day government is now a cabal. Not parties that represent local or national interests, whatever the issue is. No, it is now a Super Walmart gravy train, built on lobbyists, donors from all over the world, power seeking megalomaniacs and an intricate network of interconnected money laundering schemes. Some government, some private. And all members will do very, very well if they play by the rules. The law is very, very secondary to these people and is only trotted out to punish enemies who stray from the Cabal’s Plantation, or as with this week’s Bread and Circuses shows, to distract the populace, while the real corruption stays out of the public’s interest and eye for the most part.
In concert with that, the Talk Radio Cabal will go into Insta-Scare Mode and pound their fists on the table in faux anger over this outrage. While the other fist is counting the revenue from book sales via their listening sheep.
Will you see conservative protests, complete with ready made signs and slogans and bussed in partisans ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice? Of course not, for that is not the “conservative” way. Their way is to complain and moan, all the while continuing in vain to hope for Magical Candidates and Unicorn powered elections in the future that will never materialize. When you get used to losing, it becomes not just a habit, but something that is embraced.
No, the Left are the only ones who can mobilize at a moment’s notice, complete with all of the ideological accoutrements that are needed to “be heard” and frankly, to be taken seriously. It is hard to take seriously a party and supporters who are the equivalent of the woman who says, “He hits me because be loves me.” And it is also sad to see the Left use their Constitutionally guaranteed powers far more effectively than the Right ever does.
We here at Con Pats are less worried about mock outrage than about what all of this little circus means behind the scenes. We suspect that it is simply part of the long-running plan to remove Hillary from the Democractic ticket and put in someone that the Dem powerbrokers are far more comfortable with and someone that they think actually has a chance of winning. Something Hillary absolutely does not represent in either case.
In the end, this is probably just a simple quid-pro-quo. Hillary gets off scot-free in exchange for her stepping down. It would hardly be the first, second or third something like this has happened.
Now, stop the mock outrage. Everyone with a brain saw this coming a long time ago.
